The behaviors or characteristics that employers are looking now in these tough times is for someone to have a nice “reputation” in which they show that the employee that they have or want to have working for them, show and represent them. As a student that’s working I think the best behaviors or actions they can take is to have a strong working ethic, being dependable and adaptability.
By having and showing a strong working ethic it shows the employer that you understand and possess a willingness to work hard. In addition to working hard it is also important to work smart. This means learning the most efficient way to complete tasks and finding ways to save times while completing daily assignments. It’s also important to care about your job and complete projects while maintaining a positive attitude. Doing more than is expected on the job is a good way to show management that you utilize good management skills and don’t waste valuable time.
Also, another great behavior or action that one can take is showing dependability because employers value employees who come to work on time, are there when they are supposed to be, and responsible for their actions and behaviors. It’s important to keep the employer on where you are on all your work and what you’re doing from the tasks you’ve been assigned to. Being dependable as an employee shows your employer that you value your job and that you are responsible in keeping up with projects/work and keeping them informed of the things that they should know about.
Furthermore, another great behavior that one can show to the employers is being able to adapt and maintain flexibility in completing tasks in an ever changing workplace. Being open to change and improvements provides an opportunity to complete work assignments in a more efficient manner while offering additional benefits to the workplace.
