The ceremony was at night, everyone very excited to finally graduate for their degrees at AFDA University of film. Parents glued with perpetual smiles to see their children in black coat and four cornered flat hats, camera lights flashing everywhere as the graduates say their well prepared speeches, on the night they all have been waiting for. It took at least five minutes for one person to finish their speech out of a group of 10 people. Mike sitting joyfully at the audience with his mother (Tiny) and his brother (Jack) and patiently waiting for his turn to come. It was always his dream to graduate at University. Mike was raised by a single mother together with Jack, after their father had died brutally at work. Their father Pieter, worked at butchery as a meat cutter. Although he never really liked his job, he had no choice, but to wake up everyday at 5am to get ready for work, as it was the only way he could be able to put food on the table for his family. Tiny was working as a domestic worker, but couldn’t work anymore as she was still pregnant with Jack. One day he was very sick but had to go to work anyway, because he was the only cutter at work. Especially on a Saturday that’s when he made more money because he got double pay. He had a very severe flue and got cut by one of the biggest machine he used to cut meat with. That was a Painful moment, but tiny gave birth to jack and had to live with a grant!
