Critical Thinking Application Paper
As more organizations become more diverse and complex, critical thinkers become an asset. In most companies, especially in management, critical thinking is a requirement. The intent of this paper is to give details about critical thinking; provide the benefits of critical thinking; and provide the importance of individual critical thinking skills during the decision-making processes. In addition, it will describe the benefits one may experience from critical thinking and its outcomes within a work environment. One must have an understanding of critical thinking to apply the process.
According to The National Council for Excellence in Critical Thinking, critical thinking is the rationally discipline process of aggressively and competently theorizing, analyzing, synthesizing, relating, and calculating data accumulation by watching, understanding, suggesting, analyzing, or through contact, as a direct link to an individual’s principles and accomplishments (Scriven & Paul, 2010). Ideally, it consists of collective rational principles that go further than subject matter divisions: simplicity, correctness, accuracy, steadiness, importance, sound support, superior reasons, strength, extent, and justice (Scriven & Paul, 2010). Decision-making is a role of critical thinking that involves building a resolution on the information one collects and analyze (Kirby, 2007).
Critical thinkers show individuality that allows them to diversify the question before answering, by comparing different viewpoints of the question. Critical thinkers will simplify significant ideas and hypothesis of all points of view and surmise more than one answer to the question. In the face of fear or panic, a critical thinker is usually rational and has a wide-range of expertise to reproduce all possible choices and resolve the dilemma.
