Christopher Nolan exemplifies his cinematic brilliance through retelling the comic book story of Batman through the Dark Knight Triology.The trilogy explains Bruce Wayne bearing witness to the tragic events of his parent's murders leading to creation of batman while furthermore exploring how Bruce Wayne carries the ideals of Batman without being consumed by it.Each of the films show the correlation between the evolution of batman and how it effects Gotham’s morality. Each movie redefines Bruce Wayne differently for the greater good of Gotham.

In Batman Begins the current Bruce Wayne is without guidance and left astray, much like the city of Gotham. Gotham’s chaos and criminal infested streets made Bruce realize the connection of his parent’s murders to the lack of control of Gotham's Crime. Vengeance as his motivation Bruce Wayne escapes his inherited life to find salvation in Ra's Al Ghul, the leader of the league of shadows whom shows Bruce to fine tune his anger. He trains with the league of shadows and learns their means of cleansing the corrupt and desiccated civilizations through very unethical means. At first their ideals attracted Bruce, but then he soon learns their true nature and Bruce ends up leaving the league to face the corrupt Gotham through his own means, the Batman. This is the moment Bruce finds his true purpose since his mind is cleared from vengence.Through his new persona as batman he rids Gotham's street of gangs and crime and becoming a masked vigilante that has given the people of Gotham newly found hope. This film focuses more on the establishment of Bruce's drive to protect Gotham as opposed to it being tested in The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight differs from Batman Begins and the dark night rises because it is more focused on testing Batman and the Mortality of Gotham through a psychotic antagonist who dresses as a clown; the joker.
