October 3, 2008 Essay The Death of Heath Ledger In recent weeks, the 28 years old Heath Ledger died of a drug overdose and his death has been ruled an “accidental overdose of prescription medications”. A CNN medical correspondent claims that it was the combination of six prescription drugs that kill the actor. For this reason, I think that the doctors should be held accountable for the actor’s death, first because they were the ones that prescribed him the six drugs, second because they should know what could happen to him, and third because they are supposed to take exams to know what drugs he can take and how many. ` First of all, the doctors were the ones that prescribed him the six drugs medication. I think that if the doctors were the ones that prescribed him the six drugs, they should be responsible of Heath Ledger’s death. It is obviously that six drugs aretoo much and more if the drugs were painkillers, anti- anxiety drugs and sleeping pills. This kind of drugs shouldn’t be combined. That’s why he died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, tempazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. The doctorsshould have in count that mix this drugs together can be lethal. One example of this situation is the death of Anna Nicole smith. She dies of an overdose to, because the police find prescription drugs in her room. However, police should have in count that the doctors were the ones that prescribed him the pills, and for that they should be held accountable for Heath Ledger’s death.` ` Finally, doctors supposed to take exams to know what drugs he can take.If the doctors have taken the exams first, they would not prescribe him those medications. CNN says that was an accidental overdose.It’sobvious that people should never take many medications together.There’sno doubt that “accidental” isa tragic way to describe the failure of the physicians and the pharmacist to monitor the drug.`
