Introduction
I chose to write about chlorinated hydrocarbons because there are various objects nowadays that have chlorinated hydrocarbons icluded in their composition. Lots of people are not even aware of the fact that there are chlorinated hydrocarbons in daily items such as pesticides, solvents, rubber synthetic products, and more. I also chose to write about this topic to make people aware that chlorinated hydrocarbons can be extremely dangerous to the environment and society. Some of the effects of it being released into the environment are causes of sickness, birth defects and other issues. Animals are also impacted by the hazards of chlorinated hydrocarbons used in household products. One example of this impact is when scientists figured out that the pesticide DDT was endangering various bird species. The chemicals in the pesticide were weakening the shells of the eggs, which caused the embryos to have a less chance of survival through the hatching process. (1) Some of these compounds are known to slower the process of photosynthesis in plants, therefor causing them to die out faster. The poison in these compounds are easily mobile and can be easily spread by sticking to dust particles and being released into the atmosphere through evaporation. (2) Overall, regular exposure to chlorinated hydrocarbons cause high risks of cancer and other problems with the immune system. There are various guidelines that help reduce the risks of these hazardous chemicals on the environment and overall human health. One of the most important steps for the prevention of further neurobehavioural dysfunctions and health issues is to expand the researcher’s expertise and findings. Researchers can find new ways to detect neurological or neurobehavioral dysfunction in human beings before disability or disorder appears. (3) Scientists have also came up with a method to recycle quantities of unwanted byproduct of cholrinated hydrocarbon production. This method works by a...
