The Facts on Getting Tattoos and Body Piercings

Everyone should truly know the facts when they are looking into getting a tattoo and or body piercing. If they are thinking about getting a tattoo and or body piercing, then they should truly think about where they would want to have their tattoo and or piercing at on their body when they go through with getting a tattoo and or body piercing. First off though, everyone should truly know what kind of tattoo and or body piercing they would like to have. Even though there are some people that think tattoos and body piercings are distasteful and unprofessional, this should not discourage people from having a tattoo and or body piercing if they want to have one done. I will discuss the health myths that are told to people that are simply not true. I will discuss the safety standards that are needed to be followed when having a tattoo or body piercing done at a professional shop. I will discuss how tattoos and body piercings are found throughout history and how tattoos and body piercings are used in modern culture today. Then I will finally discuss the prejudices that people have towards those that have tattoos and or body piercings.
Some health myths that are associated with getting a tattoo and or body piercing are that people can prevent a piercing from closing without jewelry. According to Maloof (2009), they can still use an insert that is made of Tyon (it is like a fishing line), so the hole from getting a piercing does not close up on them. The other technique for keeping a piercings’ hole open is to use a PTFE (Teflon). Another medical myth I would like to tell you about is the saying that if someone has a tattoo and or body piercing they cannot get certain x-rays done.
