The Function of Education

Thesis/Main Idea.
The thesis, main idea of the article is to let the reader understand that there is more to life than being educated and getting a basic job. Life is a gift and we are wasting this precious present that we’ve been blessed with. There is more to it than just learning a specific course or achieving a diploma. We need to understand what we wish to accomplish and life and do things that we really want to, not because we have to.
Key Ideas:
Humans in general prepare us to understand a small portion of what life has to offer. We spend our lives worrying about needless things and we consistently live in a fear or anxiety. We stress about so many things, that we actually forget the real value of what life is and we’re wasting it. We live in a fear and most of the time and we don’t tend you appreciate the little things around us that truly make us happy. We worry about losing a job, the fear of others, of failing, of neighbours and death.
The author tries to get us to think about what will happened to us when we achieve everything or most aspects of life. Then what? Will we truly be satisfied of how we live our life? Those are the type of questions that we need to think about.
We don’t understand life and its subtleties. We are too focused on simple things that keep us from really understand what life is all about.
We spend countless hours educating ourselves, and at times we go into a career choice because of someone else’s decision. It’s wrong and we need to think for ourselves and what truly makes us a happier individual.
The process of life is truly an amazing gift and we need to appreciate it’s richness and not focus in its downfalls.
