Crime is a social issue that affects all countries globally, here in the Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago has been highlighted for its current escalating crime rates. With such alarming statistics the active role of the police service has been scrutinized and questioned. The motto of the police service in Trinidad and Tobago is to protect and serve with pride, which reflects its mission statement of providing a feeling of safety and security by upholding the law. In cooperation with citizens it is the responsibility of police officers to execute various roles under the function of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Essential features of the function of police officers in Trinidad and Tobago entail enforcing laws, apprehending offenders, community policing and regulating traffic. These highlighted features all work together within the Trinidad & Tobago's police service to provide a feeling of safety and security by fairly and firmly upholding the law.
