The requirements to become a Senator are specifically spelled out in Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution. All individuals that are going to run must be at thirty years of age, a United States citizen for at least nine years at the time of the Senate election and a resident of the state that they would like to represent. The requirements to serve in the House of Representatives are spelled out in Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution. Individuals must be twenty five years old, a citizen of the United States for seven years, and live in the state they are representing. There are no requirements to become a Supreme Court Justice. They just have to be appointed by the President and approved by the Senate and age and education are not required. Although, there are several factors that Congress should consider in approving a Justice. These factors change each time a new justice is appointed, which refers to the system of checks and balances. This helps prevent the President from appointing those who will blindly follow his policies. A Supreme Court Justice serves for life and the only way to remove him or heris through impeachment. The constitutional requirements to run for President are straightforward. Candidates must be at least thirty-five years old, a natural born citizen of the United States, and been living in the United States for fourteen years. In all, white males and non-veterans are over represented in mostly all branches while, women, Hispanics, African-Americans, and Asians are under represented. In the Supreme Court, it is the same case, in which whites are over andblacks are under represented.
