Corynn Bolton 1/28/09 Compare/Contrast Paper Cats and dogs both show attentiveness and loyalty but differ in energy level highlighting the dogs’ willingness to express affection. Cats and dogs both show attentiveness. Cats show attentiveness through their willingness to laze the day away proudly perched upon their owner’s lap. Cats also show their attentiveness when they hover at the foot of their owner’s bed as they nurse you through an illness. Finally, cats express attentiveness when they sit on the window sill waiting for their owner to return. Just like cats, dogs show attentiveness through their willingness to lay their head on their owner’s lap looking for nothing more than a pat on the head. A dog will also show their attentiveness when they sit at the foot of your bed waiting for their owner to wake from your nap. The attentiveness of the dog shines through as the he waits patiently for his owner to return. Cats and dogs also have loyalty in common. Cats show their loyalty when they bring home a “present” a.k.a. dead animal for their owner. An outdoor cat will continuously return to their owner’s home thus exposing their loyalty. An indoor cat will constantly sleep with the same person showing their loyalty to that person. Much like the cat, a dog will show their loyalty by sharing the fruits of their labor and hard work by giving their owner their freshly killed animal. A dog will also show their loyalty by returning home after a long day away from their home. Lastly dogs express their loyalty through sleeping with their owner every night. Although cats and dogs appear similar, the differ in energy highlighting the dogs willingness to express affection. Cats exhibit less energy by expressing a less than enthusiastic look when you arrive home from a long day away thus showing less affection. A cat shows less energy by sleeping the vast majority of the day away expressing less affection. Cats display a lack of energy by having a less then eager...
