I think that a lot of mass shootings in the United States always follow with the media exploiting the shootings the wrong way. When it comes to the media, sometimes all they can think about is getting a story that is most appealing for the general public; in turn, getting more people watching their network. I know with most things they show on the news are usually pretty bad, but when it comes to things so unspeakable as mass shootings that happen here in America then I think it is best to just spend less time going into all of the more rough details. I believe that these media reporters should be monitored and censored more than they are now a days.
One of the biggest problems we have with mass shootings is that we can never really understand why somebody would do such a horrible thing. I think that it is tough to really put the blame on one or two specific things, but there are a few obvious factors that have contributed to some of these events. A lot of people think that because of these shootings, we need to enforce more gun control laws; This could possibly prevent some of these people from even getting their hands on the weapons they used. I do not believe that is the case though, these people could still have found a way to go through with their plans. Mostly all of the mass shootings in America have taken place by somebody who has some sort of emotional problems. These people sometimes are very lonely and need some kind of attention, and they get this attention from the media when they do some kind of major event; a mass shooting for example.
After these mass shootings happen, it is usually one of the only things the media will talk about for about two whole weeks. Usually they will start with initial details, sometimes they get a few facts wrong but they always talk about the shooter more than anyone else. What I think would be a good idea for the media to do would be to just give the facts, less detail then they do...
