Global Warming
What is Global Warming? Is it real? Those are the questions being asked by millions of people a day. To answer those questions yes, global warming is very real and is affecting us, animals, plants, and many other things. Global Warming is when carbon dioxide and other pollution like CFC’s, methane, and nitrous oxides collect in the atmosphere. These pollutants are trapping the sun’s heat and causing the temperature on Earth to rise. Over the last 60 to 50 years, these temperatures have been rising at a very rapid rate and many countries especially in the last year, have been experiencing the hottest temperatures on record.
Global Warming is not only affecting the temperatures, but our health as well. People are now more frequently getting skin cancer and other skin diseases because of the depletion of the ozone layer caused by CFC’s. Also in the future, the rise of sea level will cause bugs to breed faster and create a wide range of diseases like West Nile, Malaria, and Dengue Fever. Animals and plants are also dealing with these same problems. Because of the unusual hot temperatures, some fish species are moving northward because of the warm waters in the south. Due to warmer temperatures trees are suffering because they are blooming too early and when a cold blast comes the blossoms die and fall off, which is unfortunate. Other trees like the pines are also suffering, but from the Pine Beetle. The cold temperatures usually kill off Pine Beetles, but many aren’t dying and this is causing many great pines to be destroyed. The rise of sea level is also contributing to the death of creatures living in the sea. Sea Turtles go on short to lay their eggs but due to the rise of sea level, many of those nesting sites have been destroyed and in the future it’s only going to get worse. All of these animals and plants are not benefiting from global warming but their situation is not nearly as bad as the Polar Bear’s. In Antarctica, where...
