Psychology has made it possible to understand that it can be part of an individual’s health issues. The multi-factional model shows us that an individual’s health and illnesses can be a result of multiple factors that include: biological, environmental, sociocultural, personality, behavior and stressors. These factors play a big part of an individual’s health and well-being. Being able to recognize what is causing us to become ill and working on illuminating these factors can benefit us to a healthier lifestyle.
Psychology and Health Problems
The multi-factional model takes into consideration that our health and illnesses can be affected by multiple factors, which include: biological, environmental, sociocultural, personality, behavior and stressors. The multi-factional model explains that there are many factors to why an individuals’ health may be more susceptible to illness. If individuals are aware of what might be causing them to be ill then they can be better prepared to take the necessary steps to becoming healthier. An individual’s health problem may be contributed to multiple factors within the multi-factional model. For example, the relationship between a person’s behaviors; smoking, drinking, their diet with stressors that one deals with on a daily basis. Stressors can include life changes, pain or discomfort, and frustrations. Psychological factors and behaviors play a big part in determining a persons’ health. In able to be healthy we need to take certain steps to reduce our chances of developing certain diseases like hypertension and high blood pressure which if left untreated could cause coronary heart disease.
