People have told myths for a long time. They have been passed down for many generations. There are many myths about the same subject and how some events happened. There are two myths that are about how the world got started. These two have some difference and then they are alike in some ways also and these two myths are Coyote Finishes His Work and The Sky Tree.
In Coyote Finishes His Work the land is already there and Coyote just roams the land and does well for the people by killing the evil spirits and monsters. Also in this story there is a God or Jesus that comes to earth. He comes back in the shape of an old man in order to talk to Coyote.
Both are creation myths. They are both about how the earth was started and how the people were put on it to live for a long time. They also both tell about how God had an influence on the creation of earth and how the people got on earth.
In this story it says that earth was covered in water to begin with. It says that a tree fell through the sky and caused the land on earth to be formed. This myth say that people lived in the sky before the earth was formed. A way this one is different from Coyote Finishes His Work is that it was an accident that earth was created and the God didn’t mean for it to happen.
These two myths have some things in common but they also have their differences. No one really knows how the earth was put together. Everyone believes their own way it happened. There are probably more myths about this subject that have a way different idea of how earth was made. Also on how the people were put on earth.
