Buffets tables, orchestra, liquors, fortnight, chauffeurs, Long Island, white flannel suit, silver shirt, a gold-colored tie, his house, his car, countryside, bar with a real brass rail was set up, pastry pigs, turkeys bewitched to dark gold, champagne, the movie stars, five crates of oranges and lemons arrived from a fruiterer in New York, and the bar. 3a. Most people were not even invited a Gatsby’s party, yet they came up because once they were introduced by somebody who knew Gatsby. 3b. Sometimes people came and went without meeting Gatsby at all, came for the party with simplicity of heart that was its own ticket of admission. Daisy is suitably impressed with the house and all of Gatsby’s possessions. Overwhelmed by it all, she collapses and sobs into his mound of expensive shirts. It was testimony to the romantic speculation he inspired that there were whispers about him from those who had found little that it was necessary to whispers about in this world. People wanted to relax and enjoy a litle more after the bloody World War I. It's self-important title is Fitzgerald's cynical comment on how jazz tried to present itself as a serious rival to classical music during the '20s. When the jazz of the history was over girls at the party, they were putting hands on men’s shoulders...
