The Proclamation of 1763

The Proclamation of 1763 The deaths are a bad influence on the colonies. People should not be dying because of rebellions and people’s anger. The rebellions also put other colonist in danger. It forced the colonists to move to a safe area. Since the rebellions, the British government tried to re-establish peace by creating the Proclamation of 1763. King George created this proclamation. The Proclamation of 1763 states that the region west of the Appalachian Mountains could not be settled by colonists. This area was also owned by the British military. As you can see, this was not fair because the British military did not have the right to own the land west of the Appalachian Mountains. Even though the colonists were forbidden from the land, we still decided to settle there. Also, as the settlements taken place, Britain signed many treaties with the Indians because of the Pontiac’s Rebellion. The Stamp Act This is not reasonable because we should not have to pay to keep the troops there. The government should have to pay. Also, a stamp has to be placed on the materials to show they have been paid for. Even though Grenville talked with the colonies to propose different options, he still is placing taxes on many materials. James Otis, a Patriot, fought against ridiculous searches for smuggles goods. He is trying very hard to fight against Britain. Otis also he believes Britain has no right to insist on laws. He sent letters to Parliament to end the laws. This will eventually help the colonies and the colonists. The colonists are starting a boycott against British goods. This group is called the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. Samuel Adams just recently found this group. The Sons and Daughters of Liberty are feathering people and ransacking houses because of the taxes. This is causing many people such as stamp collectors to lose their jobs. Eventually, this will just hurt our economy.
