The program outcome I think will add the most value to me is Business Leadership
A manager means being able to lead, organize and encourage a group for a specific purpose. After reading the selection by Gary Yukl, I discovered how important interpersonal communication is. Talking with someone about different topics comes natural. Influencing people with oral communication does not come as easy, but I think that it is strength. I say that it is strength because I know how important it is. The key is to help a person understand why his or her duty is important. Everyone wants to feel like their job makes a difference and is not in vain. A happy member makes for a productive team and is vital for success. I will do research, ask someone, or do whatever else it takes until I am sure that everyone on the team knows how important they are. Collaboration is also strength. In my current position at work I often have to collaborate with other departments to complete many assignments. My job cannot be fulfilled without communicating with someone who is often times in another state.
I look forward to learning subject matter knowledge. I do not know much about Management but from my own job experience I know the importance of an educated manager. A manager who understands the functions of business and communication has always put me at ease. Most people raise their eyebrows when I tell them that I decided to get a Master’s in Business. Even though I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, knowledge in Business enhances any career so I look forward to learning more.
