The renaissance was an era of social and cultural advancement in Europe. It was also a bridge between the middle ages and the modern age. The renaissance lasted for years between the 14th to 17th centuries A.D.
The middle ages or the dark ages a period of cultural decline and societal collapse which began after the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century. Europe was ruled in a totalitarian and authoritarian way by power-hungry chaotic church who kept Europe in ignorance or darkness by inciting fear and superstition into masses because of the churches greed for power and money. The church obtained their power over a millennium in Europe in from many corrupted means. The sale of indulgence, the priest would sell certificates at exorbitant prices to a person who wanted their sins to be forgiven. The church could also influence the diction of the kings if their was a law which they did not like or law that may affect them in any way they could have that law removed or make the church immune to that law in this was the Church had many laws changed one of which was property tax where any property belonging to the church could not be taxed. The church spread fear among the people, so that no one could defy them or question their authority anyone who spoke against the they would call them heretic or wicks and have them executed, no one could question them about God because no one had a printed copy of the bible only the priest where they twisted the teaching to suit them selves. The church made many things a sin in order for people stop questioning their power or revolting against them by making up sine’s and if they broke those sins they would “burn in the fires of hell”. It was a sine to paint or sculpture anything that was not holy, it was a sin to “cross the black waters” which where the seas and oceans so there was no new explorations discoveries.
