The Scare

The Scare

Screams of a young girl were echoing from a dark alley. The alley was otherwise quiet and frightening. Footsteps of a stranger were fading out and getting softer. She opened her eyes and saw nothing. Pitch black was all she knew. She was thrown into a tiny confined area where she had barely any air to breathe. The girl had flashbacks in the back of her mind. But she couldn’t concentrate on the memories. She had a throbbing pain on the side of her head. She could feel her leg dripping blood. The girl began to focus only on what had happened a few minutes ago and exactly how she got where she was.
The last thing the girl, Melissa was her name, remembered was her father stormed out of their house. They had been arguing about something or another. Her father and her always had “disagreements.” Her dad, Jack, had an awful temper. Melissa’s mother left Jack and abandoned them for that same reason. He had tried to get help in the past for his issues, which included his alcohol abuse. Melissa recalled that her dad had been drinking almost all afternoon.
That is what always initiates the “disagreements.” Melissa always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Melissa got accepted to a very prestigious college on the east coast, a long way away from home. Melissa applied merely to separate herself from her abusive father. Jack disapproved of Melissa leaving him all alone. The two started yelling a screaming loud enough for the neighbors all the way down the street to hear.
