The Sword in the Stone

The Sword in the Stone

1) In the Sword in the Stone, Arthur a.k.a Wart is the most important character in the story. Arthur is the stepson of Sir Ector and the second in line for the throne. He is a kind and very curious person who explores the world through different perspectives to know what it is like to live in animal form or any mythical creature. In addition, he asks a lot of questions about the world to gain more knowledge and understanding. Also, he is very talkative. Because of this, he believes he can talk to animals. He is very compassionate person to animals human beings alike. What Arthur desires the most is to be a decent and noble human being who is very honorable. I admire Arthur because he takes responsibility for his actions, he is compassionate, and he is very courageous.
Kay is another important character in the story as well as Arthur. Kay is Arthur’s older half brother and Sir Ector’s son. In opposition to Arthur, Kay is unkind, conceited, uncaring, and immature as well spiteful. He also shows a lack of compassion for animals and people. As a result, Merlyn the magician makes a prediction based on Kay’s selfishness. Kay believes that he is destined to become the next king and Arthur will always be below him even though Arthur is his best friend. Kay’s desires are to gain more attention from his father Sir Ector, and to be recognized as a more honorable and superior son to Arthur. After reading this story, I do not sympathize with Kay or admire him because he is conceited, he doesn’t care about others, and he is irresponsible.

2) Merlyn is the character who holds my eye. For example, the character of Merlyn introduces the imagination going and gives the story life by introducing surprises, magic, excitement and knowledge to the plot. For instance, the plot became more interesting when Arthur and Merlyn met in the woods. Merlyn then took Arthur into his mysterious cottage and gave him a tour which the author describes graphically that whenever Merlyn is...
