Introduction
World today is much more advanced and much more interconnected compared to the situation a decade ago. We have come a long way since the day of “Sir. Alexander Graham bell”, who was the founder of the telephone. His findings simply revolutionised the world as we know it. Today telecommunication technology has enabled one to be able to reach any one at any given time anywhere in the world. By reading this report one will get a first hand chance to get a better understanding of the telecommunication sector and mainly about a company which used to be the largest monopoly in the Europe called “British Group” also commonly known as BT.
General post office was formed after passing of the Telegraph act in 1868, the act has given the control of all the teleghraph companies whch were operating in United kingdom to the Genaral post office. After the invention of telephone in 1876, General Post office began to provide telephone services to business sector as at that time demand for the telephone was growing and was the only way to provide a fastest way of communication for business organizations.In 1969, General Post Office became the Post office and telecommunication was one of the Post Office division. In July 1981, Post Office telecommunication was branded as British Telecom and become a state owned corporation. Today world is increasingly becoming a smaller place compared to the situation a decade ago, telecommunication and information systems has made it easy for one to get in touch with any particular individual within a matter of minutes.
BT Group is in one of the world largest companies of telecommunication which provides a quality of communication services to business organizations and public sector. Its main activities include local, national and international telecommunications services, networked IT services, and internet and broadband services.
