The Veterans are Coming!”, he talks about the issues surrounding the integration of war veterans into higher education institutes and questions if today’s colleges are really ready for our veterans. Palm, a former dean for social sciences and humanities and current professor at Strayer University is a Vietnam veteran himself and aims his article at the administrators, faculty, and staff of colleges, giving them tips on how to welcome veterans into their institution. Palm starts off appealing to his reader’s emotions with a story about his own experiences as a recruit at Parris Island in 1965 and how he and another recruit were eager to get off of Parris Island and get back into the classroom.
