Team Depot is what they call the organization that gives back to the community. Since Home Depot sells products for the home, its ideal for their CSR initiatives to center themselves around creating affordable housing, disaster relief and helping others in need. In just 2009, Team depot built and preserved 33,000 homes. Home Depot also has a donation matching program, where they will match 100 percent of any donation made by an employee. Home Depot also has a policy that employees can receive an additional day of PTO (paid time off) per calendar year to volunteer for an organization or volunteer program of their choice.
Home Depot has many Corporate Responsibility's as a company. In April of 2011 the Home Depot foundation pledged a three year $30 million program to address veterans critical housing needs. In September of 2011 Habitat For Humanity and The Home Depot partnered up and both decided to help remodel and repair homes of Military Veterans and their families. $1.5 million was generated from the Home Depot Foundation, Volunteers from team Depot a volunteer groups, goal is to help ensure that every veteran has a safe place to call home.
The Home Depot foundation is also participating in the National NeighborWoods Month. In more than 150 cities around the country participating organizations will stage 500 events, plant 35,000 trees and recruit more than 20,000 volunteers. Tree planting, tree maintenance and stewardship programs and educational seminars are part of the project for NeighborWoods Month. The National Wildlife Federation estimates there is about 60-200 million spaces among our city streets where trees could be planted. This could produce 33 million more tons of CO2 every year, and save up to 4 billion in energy costs.
