Macs’ tight software integration and relative lack of security problems are enough to propel it past Windows-based PCs. In the world of computers, the choice of systems can be a complicated one. There are two main competitors, Mac and PCs. Everyone has their own opinion on which is better and each has many die hard fans. Even though PCs are far more popular, the Mac system is the more durable and useful of the two.
The first thing to consider is software availability. The majority of computer users own PC’s, both for work and recreational use. Therefore, software companies find that it’s far more profitable to develop software that is for use on a PC instead of a Mac. There is such a variety of software written for PCs that are unavailable for Macs that it could be a topic in itself, yet Macs do have an advantage in some areas. Also, Mac computers have some highly specialized software for media production that has been ahead of PCs for quite sometime. However, they are advanced and can be difficult to follow and use. (Zovi)
Most people assume that Macs are more expensive than PCs. That is not entirely true. It is more correctly said that Macs are more competitive in some price ranges than others. At the low end, the PC is less expensive than Mac if you can do without Mac’s multimedia and connectivity capabilities, but more expensive if you can’t do without them. However, at the high end, the design focus is on multimedia processes and this is where PCs just aren’t competitive form both hardware or cost perspectives. Although, repairs to a Mac can become more costly than that of a PC, Mac offers an “AppleCare Protection Plan.” This protection plan extends past purchasing price but covers every component of the computer.
