Thinkers and Doers, Combine to Win
We all strive for success, don’t we? So comes the question, what is success? A better grade is a success for a student, making plenty of money is a success for a business man, and winning a gold medal is, no doubt, a success for an athlete. So the better definition of success is: Achieving our goal successfully. How do we achieve that goal? Can we achieve it by only thinking? Can we achieve it by diligent working but with no plan? Obviously, the answer is no. We can only win this goal of life by both thinking and action. We must be a combination of a good thinker and an effective doer.
First of all, a detailed plan and a responsible goal is a necessary step for our success. This is the step of thinking. Our goal must be reasonable, it can not be an illusion. Take a doctor for example, he has to have a detailed plan before operating on the patient. He can not just begin without a plan or thinking; otherwise he will fail. This is also the same in a business negotiation, we can not win a contract or business without preparation. This means before we begin doing things, we have to think about all the possible endings. We have to be fully prepared for a reasonable goal, we have to be a good thinker to win our goal.
Second, whenever we have a goal, or a plan, we have to implement it. This is the step of doing. Without an action, a plan or a goal is only a beautiful dream; it can never turns to reality automatically. A president should be a doer with thoughtful plans. Madam Curie, did several hundreds of tests to discover the elemental Radium. The brothers who invented the first plane, also put their plan into action hundreds of times. The execution of the plan needs us to be diligent, devoted, and perseverant. So in order to achieve our success, we have to be an effective doer. Everything is a dream without action.
Somebody may argue that success needs an opportunity. I can promise here that good opportunity is only...
