For the past 13 years of my education I have been wondering the same question: “What am I going to do when I grow up?” And as my journey in the Vancouver School District comes to an end I believe I have finally found my answer. After high school I plan to finish all my credit hours at Clark College during the summer and fall quarters. If this year goes according to the plan my mother and I made I should have 22 credits to earn during those two quarters. After I have received my Associate’s Degree from Clark College I plan to transfer to a four-year university, my hopes are Portland State University or University of California. There I plan to major in construction engineering.
I think construction engineering is the major for me because although I just recently narrowed it down this major suits me well. All throughout my education I have excelled in the subject areas of math so I always knew I wanted to do something within the field of math. After talking it over with friends and family I decided to look into the different type of fields within engineering and construction engineering had the greatest appeal to me.
As a running start student I have the privilege of taking an intro to engineering class that is offered at Clark. I plan to take this course during the spring quarter to test the waters and make sure construction engineering is the right choice for me, if it isn’t I’m sure this class will help decide which field is.
