Marriage has gone through many changes throughout its history. Its earliest forms date back to the story of creation. It has developed a great deal since then. It is a simple fact that men and women cannot survive without each other. Marriage is part of the created natural order, we were meant to be together. Being married is an amazing thing but, like everything else it needs to be taken care of.
To better understand marriage, we must start with where it all begins: a family. What exactly is a family? In this world today, families are defined as all different concepts. A family is defined as a group of people who consider themselves related, whether by blood, adoption or marriage. (Henslin, 2011) Most families we think of have a mom, dad, and children or child. Extended family includes; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so on. That would be the typical every day family as most of us know. But, there are many other kinds of families out there today.
There are all kinds of different kinds of families, for example; one-parent families, blended families, gay and lesbian families, and couples without children. Some of these kinds of families are not approved of in many places around the world. One-parent families are just exactly what it states-these families only have one parent and either children or a child. In 2010 70% of families in the US had only one parent in the household.
Blended families are families that have been brought together from two parents that have children from their previous marriage. Because divorce is common today, lots of children spend their childhood lives within blended families. Gay and lesbian families are a lot more difficult to discuss. There are only a handful of states in the US that even allow same sex marriages. That does not mean people in other states don’t disobey and marry same sex individuals in the other states that don’t allow the marriages. Gays and lesbians live...
