In the book To Kill A Mockingbird written by Haper Lee, Miss Maudie says, "mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's garden, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird" (90). A mocking bird is a harmless little bird that makes music for use to enjoy. In this novel, the mockingbird symbolizes Tom Robinson, Boo Radley and Atticus Finch who were nice and never did any harm.
Atticus Finch was a well respected man in Maycomb's county. He tried his best to fend Tom Robinson while he was treating badly by Bob Ewell. "I wish Bob Ewell wouldn't chew tobacco" (217) was all Atticus says when Mr. Ewell spat on his face. His children were harassed by Mr.Ewell, but luckily Boo Radley came to rescue. Atticus didn't receive anything in return, but harm for his family. Tom Robinson was convicted when Mayella accused him of raping her. To risked his safety by help Mayella out when she need help. He was send to prison. Tom tried to escape but unfortunately he was shot by a guy seventeen times while he was jumping over the fence.
Boo Radley was a gentle and fragile person. Boo whispered to Scout in the voice of a child afraid of the dark "will you take me home?"(278). He went through his life not wanting to hurt an ant. He left dolls, gum and pennies for Jem and Scout. Jem says "we'll keep `em till school starts, then go around and ask everybody if they're theirs" (35) was when Jem found pennies in the knot-hole. He also saved Scout and Jem's lives while risking his own safety. If Mr. Tate send him to prison would be like killing a mockingbird.
I believed that Boo Radley, Tom Robinson and Atticus Finch are the mockingbirds in the book To Kill A Mockingbird.
