Tom Bombadil

Tom Bombadil

In the Lord of the rings there is a character that isn’t displayed in the movie but plays quite a big role in the book. This character is Tom Bombadil who is described as master of wood, water and hill.
Tom Bombadil is a funny character with quite the sense of humor. He is very playful and lives a care free life. He is quite powerful though since Gandalf said he is one of the eldest beings in existences. Tom helps Frodo and the other hobbit throughout there adventure and gives them a rhyme to say if they are ever in trouble. After he saves them from the Barrow-wights he gives them each a long dagger which was taken from a treasure in the barrows. We can also say that Tom was a supernatural being whose existences weren’t really clear. Tolkien did this on purpose saying that something’s should just be a mystery. For this he left the door open so we could think about what he really meant and kind of made us think outside of the box.
I think that Tom Bombadil is a really unknown character to most since a lot of people watched the movie and didn’t read the books so they have no idea who he is. For this he should have been added to the movie since he was favored by many people who read the book.
Over Tom Bombadil is a great character in the Fellowship of the Ring and is a favorite of all who have read the book. He is a supernatural being and very mysterious and was written this way on purpose.
