Too young to drink
The legal drinking age in America is now twenty one as opposed to eighteen, like it used to be. Almost all other countries’ legal drinking age is set at eighteen or they don’t have a drinking age law. They changed the federal law in The United States which made it so that if any state’s law was set below the federal law legal drinking age of twenty one years old, then that state would lose all of its revenue. They lowered the legal dinking age because too many people were getting into trouble, and a lot of young kids were getting into drinking and driving car accidents. Too many of these drinking and driving accidents ended in someone either ending up seriously injured or in the worst case scenarios dead. Now kids start to drink more in college, because it is easier to have someone buy it for them when they are underage because they can walk up to an upper classmen and they can buy it for them. In some cases when there is a party the upper classmen bring the alcohol to the party. When the drinking age was younger these kinds of alcoholic parties were going on in high school. Voters decided that they wanted the legal drinking age to be older so children wouldn’t be so easily introduced to alcohol at a young age. The new law is faulted for several reasons, it is not a good law to have, the legal drinking age should return to eighteen.
As American citizens, any one the age of eighteen should be able to drink what ever alcoholic beverage they want to. It should not be a legal issue whether or not they should be able to drink. If the young adult is living at home it should be parents right to decide if their child should be able to drink or not. If the young adult does not live in the home of the parents, then it should be the decision of the person, if he or she is going to drink that night or for that matter that day if they choose to.
A problem that has gone on for years, that happens on college campuses...
