Towards with the campaign of Visit Malaysia 2007, many promotion were held for encourage tourism industry with the total allocation RM 1.8 billion in 9 Malaysian Plan. This is for upgrading and maintaining infrastructure including develop tourism information centre with the better access through roads, jetty and bridge to the popular tourism destination.

Sports and Leisure Tourism Program also will carry out continuously with becoming host for annually world event like Petronas Formula 1 Grand Prix, Raja Muda International Regatta, Le Tour de Langkawi, World Amateur Inter-Team Golf Championship and Putrajaya Boat Championship. To develop the potential of sailing industry, ten new marinas was built at the strategic location like in Penang, Langkawi Island, Pangkor Island and Tioman Island.

To encourage private sector investment in the tourism industry, two special fund was launch in year 2001, namely as ‘Tourism Infrastructure Fund’ and ‘Tourism and Infrastructure Special Fund’. In 2005, RM 1.2 billion was added to the new two fund. The main project under the fund include the development of leisure places, alteration of hotels and providing infrastructure and related services.

The government also develop ecotourism continuously like was outline in National Ecotourism Plan that identify 48 main area. Malaysia gain benefit from the listed of Mulu Cave and Kinabalu Park in World Heritage listing by UNESCO and natural environment areas like Marine Park at the Tioman Island and the Redang Island that rich with many natural resources promoted as a tourist attraction.

Inap Village Program was increasing the participation from outskirt committee in the activity that related with tourism and it give chance to them to gain more side income. There has 463 entrepreneur of Inap Village were train and given a license to make the total of the entrepreneurship becoming 1089 people from 79 villages.
