Table of Contents: Introduction: The purpose of this report is to highlight the concept we have designed for your ‘trading desk of the future’. We took in to account the generous budget that was provided for this project, and we tried to design our concept in a way that would save you as much money as possible, while still having top of the range technology that any trader in the future will need. The trader will interact with the stocks in a variety of different ways. These ways will range from the screen to the very desk they sit at. The current desk looks very something like this: {draw:frame} The new desk we are proposing will revolutionize the way a trader interacts with his data. Our Concept: Globex corporation’s future operations will rely on innovative and visual technologies to provide its traders with instant and easily accessible information. We believe providing a trader with a working environment that is tailored to his or her every requirement will lead to improved performance. We have attached a selection of sketches in the appendix section highlighting the concept behind what believe envisage as being the ‘Trading Desk of the Future’. Below is the hardware we will be using. Screens: What we are proposing for the screens is an Alienware TV, as seen below. {draw:frame} *Navigation/Accessibility* tools: We propose two navigation tools that the trader will use to interact with the information they want to display on their screens. A handheld device and a desk embedded with Microsoft Surface. The handheld device will look like the Ipod Touch pictured below. It will provide portability for the trader if he/she doesn’t want to sit at the desk {draw:frame} See Figure 1.1 in the Appendix for what we wish for the hand held device to look like. The trader will be able to flick through each individual screen using the touch screen on the portable device.
