The purpose of the assignment is to present annotations of four papers in relation to the transition process from paediatric to adult services. I will also be looking at the research process within nursing and the importance it plays with facilitating decision making and forming an understanding of nursing practice (Parahoo, 2006).
Research is one of the main tools available to question nursing practice and ensure an effective and efficient care delivery. Parahoo (2006) explains that the accumulation on knowledge through research contributes to the development of nursing as a profession and encourages the nurse to question the rationale on which practice is based upon. Importance of developing skills....
Evidence based practice stems from research and expertise to inform the nurse when making clinical decisions ands therefore the two are interdependent on each other.
Rationale behind choice of papers
I chose the paper by Soanes and Timmons (2004) because I liked the clear format and it followed a recognisable structure. I thought it would be insightful to look at view points of transition from different agencies and professional backgrounds in the study by Richards and Vostansis ( ). The content of the study by Brumfield and Lansbury (2004) was enjoyable to read and I felt it fitted in well with the current unit of study. To gain a better understanding of quantitative methods and analysis I also chose the paper by Shaw et al (2006).
