Illegal Immigration’s Negative Effect on the United States Economy
The influx of illegal aliens in the United States has caused multiple scaring in the economic structure by a large population of unskilled, uneducated, and unneeded workforce that brings economic deficits, withdraw of the US Dollar to other countries, and has brought a continuous drain on our economy due to the fact that illegal immigrants have access to social security. The problem seems overwhelmingly large and intertwined but with a few proactive changes and many immigration reforms this problem could be reversed from a economic deficit to an economic gain.
Economic Deficit
The economic deficit of illegal immigration is quiet large and surpasses the standard thinking of just illegal immigrants taking the jobs Americans won’t. According to the Center For Immigration Studies the largest hits to the economy by illegal immigrants is Medicare, social security, and the United States prison system. The current rate for just one illegal alien in The United States prison system is $60.37 a day, there is 270,000 illegal immigrants that has been convicted of a felony and are in the prison system (Amato ). Illegal aliens commit crimes like fraud, smuggling other illegal immigrants into the United States and a smuggle illegal drugs as well(Edmonson 5).This heavy involvement in felony crimes is the conquences of illegal immigration. The easy accesiblity to move people and drugs from the mexican and candian borders is the problem. It has been show that about 10% of all illegal immigrants have been convicted of a felony crime in the United States , Mexico ,or both(Spivey).It is estimated that the make up of the United States prison system is that about thirty percent is just illegal aliens (Edmonson6).
