Tropospheric ozone: its molecular formula is O3 and is very harmful to the society. Its formed when oxygen is reacted with the baby oxygen or the nascent oxygen [O]. The pollutant particles emitted from the industries and through pollution are reacted with the atmosphere and NO is formed, then NO is reacted with O2 to form NO2 which possesses a big threat to the environment, then this gas is reacts with the sunlight at high temperature to release baby oxygen [O].
O2 + [O] O3 (ozone)
Sources of tropospheric ozone:
-Hydrocarbons
-the breakage of NO2 by absorbing sunlight and release of oxygen atoms from ozone
-NO
-The gases emitted from vehicle motors and from industries (CO2)
The effects of tropospheric ozone are:
-It’s a very harmful gas, toxic in nature.
-If inhaled more amounts, may cause respiratory problems to the humans
-will cause damage to the livestock and crops, causes a big loss to the farmers.
-It’s a very powerful oxidizing agent, so it will oxidize any substance it reacts with
-It will react with the humans’ skin and causes many skin diseases.
-It’s a very big threat to the textile and rubber industries as it’s a very strong oxidizing agent and reacts with the fabric and makes them white.
The ozone layer which is formed in the troposphere acts as a protection to the earth as it deflects 99% of the UV radiation, but when this ozone is at the ground level it has many harmful effects on the society.
Conclusion: I say that The ozone level formed at the troposphere as many useful effect while the same ozone formed on the earth as many harmful and ill effects on the Ecosystem.
