Truth and Freedom

The idea of being free is a concept that people take for granted. People think that they are free, but are the truly free? Our generation is the least free generation in my point of view. Our generation is bounded to the world. The world tells us what to think and what to do. We aren’t really free in this world.
I believe that to be free we need to face the truth. The truth is that in this world our generation don’t have their own way of thinking. The world tells us what to think and how to think what we think. We are constantly being told what to believe and what to do. Celebrities are an example of how we can’t think for ourselves. We follow what celebrities do and think it’s cool to do what celebrities do; it is cool to say bad words, it is cool to get five times divorced, it is cool to do these things. Many teenagers follow these examples and believe that what they are doing is cool, in reality doing these aren’t cool. This happens because most teenagers don’t think for themselves anymore. They just follow what they see and trust what people say.
We also believe almost everything that the government tells us. When we hear the word terrorist, we immediately think that they are the bad guys. This is because the government told us that they are bad, but have we ever gotten a chance to truly understand why they do the things that they do. I am not saying that I support the terrorist, but we need to think for ourselves and not believe everything that other people tell us. We need to formulate our own conclusions.
In order to be free, our generation needs to know the truth. The truth is that each person is capable of thinking for themselves and formulating their own ideas. If we can think for ourselves and not let ourselves be influenced by the world, we will be free. We need our minds in order to be free and the only way that we can take control of our minds again is by not following everything that the world tells us to.
