For Entering Freshman

UCLA is pleased to announce the Leah Bettelman Educational Scholarship, a donor-funded scholarship, for UCLA students. Eligibility:  High school graduate with a minimum (weighted or unweighted) 3.5 GPA.  Submit Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) for Fall Quarter.  Must enroll in a major in UCLA College.  Must demonstrate high financial need based on UCLA Financial Aid Office standards.  Must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 2 and be eligible for financial aid at UCLA. Award Amount:  Minimum $1,200 per year. Application Procedure:  Complete the Leah Bettelman Educational Scholarship application.  Write an essay (300 words or less, one double-spaced page maximum) that answers: Describe how the scholarship would help you achieve your goals and describe the major you plan to pursue at UCLA, as well as your activities and interests. (The essay will represent a sample of your writing.)  Provide a transcript – either official or unofficial.  Provide a letter of recommendation from a school instructor, counselor, or administrator. Note: Recommenders may mail the completed recommendation separately, but the review committee strongly suggests that recommendations be submitted by the student together with all other requisite application materials. To maintain confidentiality, letters should be enclosed in a sealed, signed envelope with the student’s name written on the front. Deadline: Application and supporting materials must be postmarked no later than June 30. Notification:
