Uncle Tom's Cabin

Uncle tom’s cabin starts with a slave owner, mr Shelby, being forced to sell two of his slaves, harry and tom, to mr haley because of a debt that he owes. When’s harry’s mother, eliza, hears of this, she decides to flee to Canada to be free with her husband george. As they are escaping, mr haley sends men after them to catch them, but they manage to cross the river and evade capture so mr haley hires a slave hunter to find them and bring them back. Eliza harry and george all reunite at a quaker settlement that helps them escape to Canada.
As this is going on, tom is on his way to mr haley’s plantation. As he is on the boat, another slaveowner, Augustine st clare, is on the boat with his daughter eva who falls overboard and tom jumps in to save her. To show his gratitude to tom, st clare buys him and takes him to his plantation
St clare is a very just and virtuous man who treats his slaves very fairly and his daughter is very friendly to them. Tom lives with them for years, and eva becomes very close with him and teaches him to be a very devout Christian and follow the ways of jesus. However, st. clare’s wife marie is very cruel and she only cares about herself. Soon eva becomes very ill, and on her deathbed asks her father to set tom free, which he promises to do. However, before he can he is accidentally killed while trying to stop a barfight, and marie takes control of all of the slaves and sells tom to a very harsh slaveowner, mr legree.
On his plantation, the slaves are treated very badly, but still tom remains a devout Christian and even helps one of the other slaves, cassy, to turn to jesus. He then encourages her to escape, which she does. When she does, and tom refuses to tell legree where she went, legree has him beaten until he slowly dies. However, as he is dying, mr shelby’s son george comes to buy tom’s freedom from legree and is forced to watch him die as a martyr.
Meanwhile, cassy and her daughter are fleeing on a boat to Canada, where...
