The terms race and ethnicity are often classified as a group of individuals, or used to describe a group of individuals. Race is a term that relates with the outward appearance of a particular group of individuals. Ethnicity is a term that relates to the specific cultures within groups of individuals. An example of race would be, a race of people share similar traits, for instance similar hair texture, similar facial features and similar skin pigmentation. People who are of far eastern decent are more commonly called “Asians”. The term “Asians” defines individuals from far eastern decent as their race. This would mean that people from far eastern decent are called “Asians” as their race, even if they originate from Japanese or a Korean ethical background. Ethnicity of individuals is described as culture in which one lives by or raised by.
I believe that in the United State it is obvious how apparent race and ethnicity play a role in everyday society. I believe that both race and ethnicity represent the various historical events in the history of America. As time progresses the old ways of thinking about a particular race or ethical background have somewhat faded over time. Although some ways of thinking have changed there are always going to be those certain groups of individuals who refuse to let go of the past and move on with the future. When everything is said and done, these particular methods of classification are something that holds no importance on our society other than an individual personal preference. While these methods of classification hold no importance, there are those Americans who hold on to their racial or ethical background as a form of pride towards their specific race or individual culture.
