University Essay

I was born and raised in Tanzania where from the early days Media has been in my surroundings and has always been an interest in my life. I was raised in a small town called Mwanza, of the shore of Lake Victoria. My curiosity was fuelled when I first got to help with an advert and was featured in it when I was seven years old, it was for advertising jingles and my sociable voice that got me a position in a children's show on Radio Station-Kiss FM in East-Africa. Since then I assumed that I would go and become someone famous in the media industry. I began travelling around Tanzania to different cities where I got to meet different children and learn about their diverse backgrounds. During the days, I would talk to them and I learned more than I ever thought I'd know about the things that made them content and distressed. However sad it was, this definitely expanded my knowledge and made me feel extremely fortunate as a child living in Tanzania. I must admit, at that age, I thought that that was the most exciting time of my life.





My interest in communications was influenced greatly from my own attitude whilst growing up. I'm driven by my business minded parents, and I think the kind of commitment I learned from them is what I'd like to bring in my future career. I am very motivated and passionate about this course area and I feel that I have the potential to succeed in this study. My keenness and willingness to learn about this subject is genuine and has had a very big impact on my life so far.





Having held an advertising position within a media co-operation, which consisits of a Radio Station, Television Station and newpaper, I quickly realised that pursuing a Communications degree at university would be ideal for me.
