Obesity, heart disease, and diabetes are a major problem in western civilization today. Most people are searching for a quick and easy solution to their health problems. The most natural solution is to change your current diet to a vegetarian diet. This diet is the perfect solution because anyone can make the change, there is no surgery involved, and you start to see results immediately. This diet is also perfect for someone who wants to start living a healthier lifestyle because this diet incorporates natural and healthy foods into your daily routine. Broadly defined a vegetarian is a person who does not eat meat, poultry, or fish. Vegetarians occasionally eat eggs and dairy products but avoid animal products such as chicken and steak. A vegetarian diet is well balanced and meets the current recommendations for a low fat, high fiber diet. Some people that want to become vegetarians do not know where to start. There are five simple steps which help you incorporate a vegetarian diet into your daily life. Most people do not change their diet because of their passion for animal rights but for the health benefits. Vegetarian diets are known to increase your life expectancy and cure heart disease.
There are six main types of vegetarians; they vary from the amount of fish eaten to the temperature that their food is prepared at. Specifically they are a pescatarian, flexitarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, and a macrobiotic. The word “pescatarian” is used to describe people who refrain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. This type of diet is the stepping stone to a full vegetarian diet. A flexitarian is the term newly used to describe a person who eats mostly vegetarian food and from time to time eats meat. A lacto-ovo-vegetarian is a person who does not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish, and animal flesh of any kind, eggs, or dairy products.
