To start with, Vüs'at O. Bener was born in 1922 in Samsun. He attended the Military Academy and worked as a commisary officer in different cities of Turkey. In 1953, he began to attend the Faculty of Law in Ankara and graduated in 1957. After his graduation, he began to work as a legal adviser in the General Directorate of Highways. He is also one of the modern authors of Turkish Literature. He has his own methods in using the language. He writes stories that have deep meaning and not easily understood. And, for this reason, he is considered as a contemporary writer in Turkish Literature. The death of his wife when she was giving birth and also, the death of his baby in a very short time after his wifes death, can be the reason of the depression reflected in his works. In 1952, his first collection of short stories ' The Friend ' (Dost) was published. Then, in 1957, the second collection of short stories titled ' The Non-Living ' (Yaşamasız) was published. Very later, in 1993, the third collection of short stories ' Black and White ' (Siyah Beyaz) was published. This collection was the co-winner of the 1993 Yunus Nadi Short Story Award and Sedat Simavi Foundation Award. In 1998, his fourth collection of short stories titled ' The Black Train ' (Kara Tren) was published. And, In 2001, his last collection of short stories titled ' The Trap ' (Tuzak) was published.

His novels are; ' The Virus of the Ice Age ' (Buzul Çağının Virüsü) (1984), ' The Notes of Mr. Muannit Sahtegi ' (Bat Muannit Sahtegi'nin Notları) (1991).

His plays are; ' The Linden Tree ' (Ihlamur Ağacı) (1963). This play got the 1963 Turkish Language Association Drama Award. ' The End of the Rope ' (İpin Ucu) was published in 1980. This play was the co-winner of Abdi İpekçi Award.

Although, he thinks that his poems are not being considered as poems, in 1984, the collection of poems titled ' Poems ' (Manzumeler) was published.
