It is commonly acknowledged that the outstanding leadership of Wal-Mart contributes a lot to its great success in the world. Firstly, the concept of “everyday low price” of Wal-Mart, which tries to provide the customer goods of the same quality at lower price than competitors, has influenced all the levels of the whole retail industry. Wal-Mart tries to reduce the cost by applying the information technology and form a value chain to provide its customers with more additional benefits, believing that the lower price but same quality helps to get customer attentions. The constant cost cutting has imbued throughout Wal-Mart. Secondly, Wal-Mart always put customers first. Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart handed down the three meters smiling principle. The employees are encouraged to smile to customers when they are three meters away. Besides, Wal-Mart always stresses the themes in the organization, like think like a customer, sell the customer what they want, provide the customer a genuine value, and so on. Thirdly, Wal-Mart always regards the employees as the partners to serve the customer and solve the problems together. The employees in the organization learn to share experience and benefits with others, encourage, respect and appreciate each other. In all, the leadership in Wal-Mart makes each employee to work together to provide low price and good service to the customers, which helps Wal-Mart become the world giant company and occupy the leading position in retail industry.

The application of advanced technology is one of the key reasons for the success of Wal-Mart. Since the early 1960s, Wal-Mart has done much earlier hard work than its competitors, taking good advantage of IT to track items, communicate with its suppliers and investors, and expand its market and son on.
