Describe the lesson you observed. Include the following:
What were the objectives? Consider the knowledge, skills, and dispositions your cooperating teacher wants students to have as a result of this lesson.
In the following lesson the students will be reading short passages and will be able to identify the main idea in each passage. Along with the main idea, the students will be required to identify supporting details that supports the main idea. After reading a passage the students will answer multiple choice questions that correspond to the reading. The students will work together in groups to find the correct answer. The collaborative teacher will guide the students during the reading, and encourage students to ask questions during the lesson, and to give their perspective as to why they chose their answers. The purpose of this lesson is to prepare our students for their ELA exams in April. Below are the lessons objectives:
The students will be able to expressively define what is a main idea and detail.
The students will be able to determine the main idea and details to a short passage.
The students will be able to read a short passage and answer multiple choice questions that relate to the topic.
The students will be able to identify their reading skills strategies
The students will be able to collaborate with their peers in an appropriate and orderly manner.
