Washington
Washington is a very interesting state. I think it is a very
Cool state because it is the only state named after a president
(Which is named after President George Washington)? The state
Bird is the Willow Gold Finch. The state flag is President George
Washington’s face on a green flag with “The Seal of The State
Of Washington.” Washington is in the southern region of the
United States. The nickname of the state “The Evergreen
State” which is because most of the trees in Washington are
Evergreen trees. The Date of Statehood of the State of
Washington is in the month of March in the year of 1853. The
State Tree is the Western Hemlock because it is the main
Evergreen tree in Washington. The State Flower is the Coast
Rhododendron. The State Motto is “Al-Ki” which is a very weird
word in my opinion.
Three important events going on now in Washington are:
Oysters are being recalled from buyers due to pesticides.
Wildlife Commissioners are discussing the wolf problem in
Northern Washington.
The state is celebrating 60 years of fairy tales.
The first people to discover Washington is Captain John
Kendrick and Captain Gray. Captain Gray arrived first in the
area and named the bay after his ship, Captain Kendrick
Arrived second and named the state Washington after his ship
The Lady Washington which was named for the presidents first
Wife. The Captains traded furs and other things for the land
and
let the Indians stay. Captain Gray sailed to China putting one of
the sail papers in the emperors library, one in Washington D.C.,
and one in Spain. One day the English claimed Washington as
Their land because they had an Englishmen trading with the
Indians after Captain Kendrick and Captain Gray left. We went
to get the 2 others copies and we got the land. Later in his life,
Captain was sailing toward Hawaii which used to be called the
Sandwich islands and saluted a British ship by firing his cannon...
