Most people have views that are strongly influenced and informed by philosophy, often without realizing it. Identify a view you have—whether on politics, religion, science, culture, or even the media and entertainment—that might be regarded as being related to philosophy. What kind of reasons do you have for holding that belief? What figure from the history of philosophy section do you think might have some views that are similar, or at least relevant, to your own? Explain why you chose that particular figure.

Your initial post should be at least 150 words in length. Support your claims with examples from this week’s required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.

Before I begin, I am giving the disclaimer that my intent is not to hurt anyone’s feelings or judge anyone for that matter. This is strictly what I believe and I do not treat anyone differently or dislike anyone who lives a lifestyle I am about to mention. I understand other people have different views on this subject and I respect everyone’s opinion. I view homosexuality as being immoral and unnatural. I could say that my religion helped direct my decision, but atheists come back with that being irrelevant. So I took a step back and set my religious beliefs aside and pondered the same issue. I still found that the practice is unnatural, because obviously it takes a male and a female to procreate “naturally”. The sole purpose of sexual intercourse is to create life. So I feel it is safe to say that sexual relations between a man and woman are “natural” which in turn tells me that anything else, including homosexuality, would be considered “unnatural”. In the case of morality, homosexuality is giving in to desire that I consider “unnatural” therefore categorizing it as immoral.
