Introduction
PharMerica Corporation just created a new Pediatric Department to the company. The company decided that, since their goal or mission is to ensure patients receive superior quality healthcare, when they need it, beginning an emphasis on pediatrics makes good business sense. Much of the technology already in use nationwide is applicable to pediatrics care. Our goal is to take the capabilities currently in use with our older customers and apply it to the younger age area of pediatric care.
As the team leader of this new department, I welcome the opportunity to lead our team of managers. Our four personality types, ENFJ, ESFJ, ISFJ and ISTP present a unique opportunity to work together toward our goal of success.
The leadership approach for this new adventure will be that of democratic style, which involves the manager and one or more staff workers in the decision-making process. The manager / leader maintains the final decision making authority. Implementing this style of leadership is not a sign of weakness for the leader, but a sign of strength. As an ENFJ personality type, it is an exciting challenge to ensure that everyone has a role in the implementation of the company’s strategic plan to expand to the Pediatrics Care market. Utilizing good communication skills, I will strive to make sure each member of our leadership team knows that they will always have the ability to have open dialogue with me. Taking input of our team members into consideration, encouraging their participation and contributions, and helping them feel more relevant and committed to the team decision-making process is a challenge. In participative theories, the leader welcomes the input of the team members. The principles were applied from the Relationship leadership theories area, focusing on connecting leaders and followers.
