If I were to choose the highlight of Friday afternoon, I would not just pick having two days off from school or getting to sleep in an extra 4 hours, I would overall pick our most awesome class, D.A.R.E, which is not just learning about hazards and various drugs or dangers of smoking and alcohol, but it is incredibly fun with the best officer I know, Officer Foote, who truly makes D.A.R.E an extremely fun and educational experience, mixed together!
Have you ever been taught about the deadly dangers of an illegal drug with the name of marijuana, because that is one of the subjects that our terrific officer covered completely.
Even though this horrific drug has been banded from the USA, people are still buying it from dealers and other rule breaking-on the street sort of people. Did you know that marijuana causes some horrible effects like lack of knowledge and short-term memory loss? Short term memory loss can be extremely dangerous because you can forget numerous amounts of common information such as simple things like were you live or what you needed to do for someone. You may be wondering why people even choose to do such a mindless drug like marijuana, but people may be forced to start it by peer pressure, different beliefs, or even because of depression. Remember, once you start, you are addicted and it is terribly hard to stop. If you are ever to come in to a situation when your friend is bribing you to try a drug, you can just simply say “no” like a broken record, change the subject, give a fact on how deadly or dangerous it is, or you can be simple and just walk away. By smoking marijuana, it can cause you strong cases of breathing problems, it can give you more colds, and it causes upper respiratory problems- I don’t think I will be ever attempting to try that!
