What I Have Learned This Semester
What I have learned this semester is that I can work independently. I thought that I would not be able to do the assignments in the book on my own, without there being an instructor standing in front of the class teaching. I came to realize that I can learn the material in many different ways. I could use the math book, ask the teacher if needed, get a tutor, and there was also My Math Lab on Course Compass an online tutorial. I had to take the time to really study the material as much as I could and not just skim over it. I got frustrated a lot and wanted to give up, but I knew that I had to keep at it if I wanted to pass and go on to the next assignment. There were times that I thought that I would never be able to do learn certain math problems but I reworked them and reworked them until I got it or someone showed me what I was doing wrong. All In all it was a learning experience for me and I put forth 100% because I wanted to prove to myself and others that I could do the work required of me to pass the class. At the beginning of the semester I was not too enthused about being in a self paced class and complained, but I have now changed my mind about the class. I thought that I would need the instructor standing in front of me to teach the material to me and I was wrong. I didn’t need as much assistance with the math as I thought I would need. I know now before I start complaining about something to give it a try first and then voice my opinion.
